But many people install it themselves, but the effect is not satisfactory. Here I will tell you how to install silicone light strips, so that you can easily achieve professional and beautiful effects, making your home more comfortable and stylish.
Preparation before installation
- Confirm the light strip and accessories: Check whether the Silicone Light Strip, power adapter, controller, etc. are complete and whether there is any damage. Make sure that the length, color, brightness, etc. of the light strip meet the design requirements.
- Prepare tools: You need to prepare tools and materials such as electric drills, screwdrivers, wire strippers, scissors, tape measures, insulating tape, buckles or glue.
- Planning layout: According to lighting needs and decorative effects, determine the installation location of the light strip, such as the TV background wall in the living room, the head of the bedroom bed, under the kitchen wall cabinet, the inside of the stair handrail, etc. Measure the length with a tape measure, mark the installation path, ensure that the route is reasonable, and avoid crossing or too long or too short lines.
Installation process
1. Install the power supply and controller
- Determine the location: The power adapter and controller should be installed in a dry, ventilated and easy-to-operate place, such as inside a cabinet or in a corner of a wall.
- Fixed installation: Use a screwdriver to fix the power supply and controller in the predetermined position to ensure firmness.
- Connect the line: According to the instructions, use wire strippers to correctly connect the power cord of the light strip to the power adapter and controller, and wrap the interface with insulating tape to prevent short circuit.
2. Installing the light strip
- Cleaning the surface
Wipe the installation surface with a clean cloth to remove dust, oil, etc., to ensure that the light strip can fit tightly with the surface. - Paste the light strip
If it is a silicone light strip with adhesive backing, tear off the adhesive protective film, paste it slowly and evenly along the marked route, and press while pasting to make the light strip fully contact with the installation surface. When encountering corners or bends, slowly bend the light strip as needed, and use its softness to fit the shape.
- Fix the light strip
For light strips without adhesive backing or that need to be strengthened, you can use buckles or glue to fix them. Buckles should be installed at a certain distance to ensure that the light strip will not loosen; when using glue, pay attention to the right amount to avoid glue overflow and affect the appearance. - Cutting the light strip
If the light strip is too long, you can cut it at the cutting mark with scissors according to actual needs. Pay attention to keep the cut flat when cutting to avoid damaging the internal circuit of the light strip.
3. Hide the wiring
- Use the wiring trough: If there are exposed wiring, you can install the wiring trough to hide the wiring. The color and material of the wiring trough should be coordinated with the surrounding environment.
- Embedded in the wall or furniture: If conditions permit, the wiring can be embedded in the wall or furniture to make the appearance neater.
Post-installation inspection
- Power-on test: Turn on the power and check whether the light strip is emitting light normally, whether the brightness is uniform, whether the color is consistent, whether there is flickering or no light. If there is a problem, promptly check whether the line connection or the light strip itself is faulty.
- Appearance inspection: Observe the installation effect of the light strip from different angles, check whether the light strip is installed flat and firmly, and whether there is any warping, twisting or non-fitting. If there is any defect, make adjustments in time.
