With the phasing out of incandescent lamps, people are more and more concerned about the safety of LED lighting products, the main replacement of outdoor lighting brands. The European Lighting Association gave a brief answer on the safety of LED lighting products. The contents are sorted out and translated as follows:
1. Will the LED blue light of outdoor lighting lamps harm your eyes?
Generally speaking, under the same color temperature of outdoor lighting brands, LED lighting products will not produce more blue light than other types of lighting products. The idea that "LED lighting products will emit blue light of high hazard level" is actually a misunderstanding in the society. In the past, most LED lighting products had high color temperature. This leads some people to understand that low color temperature is a characteristic of LED products. Now, LED lighting products have covered full color temperature, from warm white to cold white, and are produced for safe use. All products manufactured by EU Member States comply with relevant European safety standards.
2. Is it dangerous to look at LED lighting products?
For general consumer lighting products, light sources and lamps belong to the category of relatively low risk in the European safety directive. In normal use, there is no such risk in terms of product technology (LED, fluorescent lamp or halogen lamp).
3. Will the strobe and flicker of LED have a negative impact on the health and comfort of life?
As far as lighting products are concerned, the stroboscopic and flickering displayed by both LED products and fluorescent lamp products are considered as poor quality lighting. Under the current European standards, there are no defined values for strobe and flicker. The European Lighting Association has carried out relevant research and investigation in order to provide good solutions to the above problems.
