In kitchen design, the lighting under the cabinets is often overlooked, but it is a key detail to enhance the cooking experience. Silicone Light Strips have become the first choice for many families due to their soft light effect, energy-saving characteristics and easy installation. Next, we will teach you how to complete the installation safely and efficiently.
Step 1: Planning and Preparation
Before installation, you need to clarify the lighting needs and layout. Use a tape measure to measure the length of the bottom of the cabinet and select a silicone light strip of the corresponding size (low-pressure waterproof models such as IP65 are recommended). At the same time, plan the power supply location to ensure that the socket is located near the light strip to avoid exposed wires that affect the appearance. In terms of tools, in addition to the light strip and adapter, you need to prepare scissors, detergents, double-sided tape or buckles and other fixing materials, as well as safety protection products such as insulating tape.
Step 2: Cleaning and Cutting
The bottom of the cabinet is exposed to oil smoke for a long time. Before installation, you need to wipe the surface thoroughly with a detergent to ensure that there is no oil stains and dust to avoid affecting the stickiness of the back glue. When cutting the light strip, you need to strictly follow the cutting points marked on the light strip (usually one for every 3 lamp beads). Random cutting will cause partial lamp beads to fail. If you need to extend the light strip, you can use a special connector or welding wire, pay attention to the correspondence of positive and negative poles, and wrap the interface with insulating tape to prevent short circuit.
Step 3: Fixing and routing
Tear off the adhesive backing of the light strip, slowly stick it along the inner edge of the cabinet, and ensure that the light strip is straight and not skewed. If you are worried that the adhesive backing is not firm, you can use additional buckles or screws to fix it. When installing, pay attention to the direction of the light strip to avoid direct light into the eyes. It is recommended to let the lamp beads tilt downward to illuminate the countertop. The power cord can be hidden through the back of the cabinet or the skirting board, and fixed with a cable organizer or cable trough to keep the space tidy. If the light strip supports dimming and color adjustment, the controller can be fixed in a convenient position for daily operation.
Step 4: Power-on test and debugging
After connecting the power adapter, first power on to test whether the light strip is fully lit and confirm that there is no dark area or flickering problem. If some lamp beads are not lit, you need to check whether the interface is loose or whether the cutting is illegal. During debugging, you can also adjust the color temperature and brightness of the light according to your needs. Warm light is suitable for creating an atmosphere, while cold light is more conducive to food preparation operations. After the test is completed, use buckles or tape to reinforce the loose parts for a second time to ensure long-term stability.
Precautions and maintenance
The entire installation process must be powered off to avoid the risk of electric shock. The total power of the light strip cannot exceed the adapter load. If it is too long, an independent power supply must be connected. During daily cleaning, wipe the surface of the light strip with a dry cloth to prevent water stains from penetrating into the circuit. If the light strip is aged or damaged, you can directly replace the single section without disassembling the whole piece.
